Potsdamer Straße in Berlin should not be mistaken for Potsdamer Platz. While the new city center of Potsdamer Platz was raised in one day to host Berlinale, Film Museum, the Philharmony and several multiplex cinemas the dark and narrow abyss of Potsdamer Straße - just a few hundred meters further on - is an uninviting mile of sex crime and cheap hairdressers. For one summer night in 2008 the street caught a subtle reflex of a distant halo: The seaming trees casted shadows of the iconic palm trees of Hollywood Boulevard.
