The series Petrified Cities / Tracings can be understood as a re-cartography of the imaginary fossils. It reflects the technique of archaeological drawings where distinct strokes code structural or spacial aspects of finds comparable to the way maps render topographical characteristics. With a variety of notations and drawings the Tracings pursue the project Petrified Cities as an open imaginary research project.
