The Gardener of Eden

The Gardener of Eden is a location-based work that transforms a gallery’s window front to a stained glass triptych. The motives in the different window segments are composed of Primo Tempore vocabulary and reflect man as a creating creature between nature and his own fabrications. The medieval aesthetics allow a distant view onto societal change in a digital era. The scenes are intersected with color fields of various transparency to let the world outside become part of the imagery. Repeatedly occurring schematic structures are left blank and eventually let the sun cast their shapes onto the gallery´s floor.
The Gardener of Eden was conceived and realized for the exhibition Re:Formation at municipal gallery ada, Meiningen (Thuringia) in 2017 on the occasion of the fifth centenary of Luther´s Reformation.
