Semiotic Collider

Semiotic Collider is an experimental setup to accelerate Text Fields to higher speeds and let them collide with each other in search of new, unknown characters. A converted record player serves as accelerator. By rotating its plate and in accordance to the monitors frequency the Text Fields come back into the movement they originate from. At speeds over 33 rpm the red button may be triggered. The Text Fields will collide and new character-like structures will emerge from their fragments to be examined for possible meanings.

The exact setup of the Semiotic Collider changed in the course of exhibitions. The ongoing development of higher clocked processors enables character accelerations to ever higher speeds.
